Kiva's Bodywork Philosophy
Every person expresses their mental, emotional, and physical state through their body, each in a unique way at any given time. The massage therapist's role is to investigate the manifestations of imbalance in the client's body. By helping the client to recognize and identify the physical sources of pain, a journey of releasing negative physical, emotional, and mental patterns can begin. Bodywork is fundamentally something done by the client on the table (or mat). An intuitive and skillful therapist only investigates and assists in the client's own process of healing.
Each client's session is tailored specifically to his or her needs and requests, and may include both Swedish and deep tissue techniques, trigger point therapy, acupressure, myofascial release, and craniosacral therapy. There is no difference in charge for different types of bodywork as the approach should remain fluid, variable, and responsive to needs expressing and changing in real time.
In general, Kiva's bodywork style would be classified as deep tissue. However, depth is perceived differently by each person and is therefore adjusted accordingly. Many times the deepest issues are addressed with the lightest touch, through the craniosacral method of therapy.
